So this will be the year when many people go from carrying devices in their pockets or bags to having them strapped to their wrists. March will likely see the release of Apple's watch. I wonder if it will be successful outside of those who love tech anyway? The main problem as I see it is that for the foreseeable future, the watch is going to be more or less entirely dependent on an iPhone from which to receive data. The watch functions as a sort of slave device. This will most likely continue until the watch is powerful enough to not rely on another device. If you already have a watch and a phone of some kind, what do you gain from buying an Apple watch or any other wearable?

There are of course some apparent health functions that will be useful but I fear that it's just one more step towards becoming totally reliant on this sort of technology. I mean, how often do you really need to check your Twitter feed?
